Two-dimensional(2D) collagen type I gels induced differentiation of mouse embryonic stem cells more quickly than three-dimensional(3D) gels.
3D collagen gels promoted differentiation towards cardiovascular phenotypes and may also be particularly beneficial for differentiation towards fibroblasts and smooth muscle cells.
